Following two successful launches in Wales and Ireland for our feature-film At the Water’s Edge: Stories of the Irish Sea (2022), we have just released the segments detailing the ferry crossing experiences that link our five project ports on either side of the Irish Sea. Whilst each film explores a very different theme (family; wild life; migration), they all share a sense of belonging and love for their home port as much as the one facing them on the other side of this small body of water. In addition, each film also possesses a deep sense of poetry in a metaphorical as much as a literal meaning. We were extremely fortunate to get the permission not just of the Cecil Day Lewis estate, but also met with very generous contemporary poets (Bernard O’Donoghue, Greg Howes, Gary Brown and Gillian Brownson) who allowed us to perform their work or film them at their craft.
So without further ado, enjoy your three trips across the Irish Sea.
